Studio Portraits
My best photo is the second row down, middle picture. The lighting in this picture is coming from the left in the picture and you can tell because there is a shadow behind Courtney on the right side of the photo. The light source is level with Courtney's face and shines directly on her face. Courtney is sitting down on a stool turned slightly to her right. The photo captures all of Courtney's torso and half of her legs down to her knees. Courtney is not looking directly at the camera, she is looking straight forward from the position she is facing. She is also laughing. The picture was taken horizontally. The point of view was straight on. I was about 5 feet from Courtney when I took the photo. The composition creates a happy mood because of Courtney's smile that lights up the whole picture. Courtney's sweet and caring personality shines through in this photo. Another photo that shows Courtney's personality is the second to last photo. In this photo Courtney is depicted in a completely different scenario. The main difference is how Courtney's expression has changed from happy to serious. The lighting is also different in the second photo because it only shows half of her face which just intensifies he serious mood.
Family Portraits
I selected my dog and cat for the subjects of my pictures. The photo I chose for my reflection was the one of my cat all the way to the right. I photographed my cat sleeping t show his age because he is old and sleeps a lot. My cat is posed in a ball, all rolled up and sleeping. His pose communicates that he's tired. I shot the picture close to his face and almost level with his butt. The sheet in the background makes the setting feel peaceful. The texture is very successful in the picture.
Self Portrait
I created the photo by holding the camera out with my left hand. The location is in a windowsill in my house. The time of day is afternoon. The mood is very serious because of my straight face. The mood is what makes the photo successful.
Photo emulation: Elliot Erwitt
Research about Elliot Erwitt:
-Born in France, moved to the united states
-Attended Hollywood High School
-Commercial and Artistic photographer
-Photographer for Magnum Photography
-His main subjects are people and animals
Why I chose Elliot Erwitt?????-
I found his artwork and photographs very interesting
I Emulated this photo by taking a picture of gloves on a rope in the backyard of my grandmothers house.
The photo:
Composition-
-The photo is symmetrically balanced
-Also uses the rule of thirds
-The gloves is the clear focal point
-By blurring the background it creates a sense of depth
-Effectively leads the viewers eye through the photo with the rope holding the gloves
Reflection:
-The most successful part of the photo is the gloves
-There isn't anything that could make the photograph better, it is already an amazingly composed photo
