Include the research did you do and where? · The input factors were to know the elements of art and principles of design. I searched thru magazines to find possible things I could cut out and use in my ad. Describe the process in detail Explain the steps you followed in order to complete the project. · First I cut out pieces from magazines that I liked · Then I picked a color paper for a background or used white. · Next I organized the magazine clippings on my paper the way I wanted the ad to look. · Then I cut out paper in an explosion to create emphasis for the product title. · Then I glued down all the magazine clippings where I wanted them. · Lastly I scanned the ad and put it on my weebly website. |
Describe the final output / product in detail: (what are we looking at?)
· The output was an ad made out of magazine clippings that we scanned to put on our weebly accounts.
Describe feedback you received during the project (suggestions, comments, etc). From peers and the instructor. How did you use this feedback to correct issues with your project?
· I received positive feedback that my ad was very captivating because it gets your attention right away with the dogs with human mouths. I also received feedback that the text was hard to see and read.
What did you learn during the assignment such as tools, skills, design concepts, software, hardware, etc. Where else could you use what you learned? How can you apply what you learned in other projects, areas, courses, assignments or outside school?
· During the duration of the project, I learned the elements of art and principles of design, which helped me understand what makes a good ad. I learned how to use line, emphasis, balance, and color to make the ad stand out and capture your eye.
If you were to do the project again, what would you do differently and why? Provide reasons and examples
· If I were to do this project again, I would make my ad differently by using a marker on the lettering so it stands out more and looks neater.

Brochure
Thayer Street Brochure
Reflection Questions
For this assignment we were to create a brochure of Thayer Street. We were separated into groups and assigned different jobs. Each group was assigned a certain topic to research and base their brochure on.
Before you begin this project, you need to know different places and shops that sell items that cover the topic of your brochure. We acquired this research on a field trip to the actual Thayer Street. We walked up and down the street looking in different stores for items that were our topic for the project. We interviewed different people to find out information about store hours and if we were allowed to take pictures of their store.
We began by researching for our brochures at Thayer Street. We were assigned different topics to research, and looked for different stores that would sell items in the same category we were assigned. We interviewed people and took pictures of the different stores. When we had gathered enough information we started by creating a graphic organizer in class. The graphic organizer was a sketched outline of what we wanted our brochure to include. Then we continued by recreating our brochures that we outlined in our graphic organizers on the computer. We shared pictures and maps on the Apps G drive, where everyone in the group could access them. When we were finished creating a final draft using publisher, we printed them out.
When we had completed the project, the final product was a printed tri-fold brochure. We used the color printer in the back of the room and the folding machine to fold the brochure. We handed in a neat final draft of our printed brochure, and the graphic organizer paper clipped to the back.
I received feedback from Mr.Adams about several things on my brochure that could make it better. One thing was the front cover was not centered when I printed it out and folded it. Another flaw was that there were words that were hyphenated. Also the map was supposed to be on the back side of the brochure, but was incorrectly placed on the inside. I corrected these things on my brochure once I received my brochure back and before I put it on weebly.
During this project I learned several different things about creating a captivating brochure. Some of the things I learned were to make sure all the pages are centered, not hyphenate words, and to put the map on the back. I also learned how to use the Apps G drive to share pictures and other files on a shared class folder.
If I were to do this project again, I would change several things to improve my brochure. One thing I would change is by putting the map on the back. I would also fix hyphenated words, so there aren’t any hyphens. I would also add another store and information about that store because with the map on the back I would have room for one more page of information on Thayer street gifts. Lastly I would fix the brochure so that all the text on the pages is centered when it is folded.
